Devotional Text:
Job 32:4-5 (NLT) 4 Elihu had waited for the others to speak to Job because they were older than he. 5 But when he saw that they had no further reply, he spoke out angrily.
Devotional Thought:
Zeal without knowledge can be a cruel weapon as we see in the conversation between Job and his friends. They were sure they knew why Job suffered and the answers they provided as a prescription for his cure were like pouring salt in his wounds. We are encouraged to keep our passion for God alive and vibrant (Rom. 12:11) but instructed to speak tempering our words with love (Eph. 4:15). It’s not only what we say, but how we say it.
